Taking time for the small things ๐Ÿ’ซ One of the Taking time for the small things ๐Ÿ’ซ One of the things we love most about getting outdoors with our kids is the potential for exploration. I have really missed watching them discover the outdoors at their pace, taking in the small things that we would've overlooked. This is their adventure, their world. There is freedom and endless possibilities. We just need to be reminded sometimes ๐Ÿ’ซ We went slow. We saw the world through their eyes and were introduced to the things that grabbed their attention. Like this ant he met and spent ages following. In those 5 slow hours, we also saw mountain hares, lizards, some big birds, beetles (always my favourite), a couple of dead adders that were our eldests favourite ๐Ÿ™ˆ and lots of sheep that were littlests favourite! ๐Ÿ‘ We also saw lots of mountains, had plenty of space to run around and met no one on the hills. Slow mountain day magic ๐Ÿ’ซ I'm beyond excited to see my parents tomorrow ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ it will be the first time seeing them since February and I can't wait! This felt so good today! It was a day filled wit This felt so good today! It was a day filled with sunshine and mountains, a tale of 2 paths (1 built like a road, the other not so much...), purple heather green hills and blue sky views for miles, our littlest didn't mind being in the carrier after he wanted to walk for a chunk of the ascent and our eldest dipped his well worn feet in the river once we were close to being back to the van. We covered 10.1km with 536m ascent. Three years ago this month, we set out on a huge p Three years ago this month, we set out on a huge physical challenge - to climb 20+ munros in 4 weeks with our then 5yo to raise money for @tommys It was also hugely emotional for both me and Keith. We had miscarried the previous year and Beanie's due date was mid-July. The closer we got to it, the more I felt I couldn't manage and so I wanted to do something to get my head out of the downward spiral that I felt I was heading towards. We completed each of those 22 munros together as a family. Our son knew we were raising money for poorly babies, and he totally rocked those 4 weeks - it turned out to be just under the height of Everest we climbed - icecream helped as did wildcamping and some wildswimming too ๐Ÿ˜‹ We think about Beanie a lot. July totally messes with our heads if we think about it too much. Our youngest is about to turn 2yo, just a couple of days after Beanie's due date, and we know we wouldn't have him if we hadn't lost Beanie. July is mixed with total heartbreak for Beanie and total joy for the baby boy we thought we'd never have after miscarrying and trying for months..... the universe is wacky, eh? Anyway, I really don't know what I'm trying to say here... These little squares are a reflection of our family life and Beanie was a part of that, a spark that filled us with love and hope, even if it wasn't meant to be ๐Ÿ’–

We'd wanted to go away on a mum/son camping trip for ages, but life kinda happened... but it all lined up perfectly for a magical weekend with him.
