Don't let lack of experience, fear or worry stop y Don't let lack of experience, fear or worry stop you from trying something new or get back in to something you've not done in years. The last time I was in a kayak was probably about 8yrs ago. We got rid of them, deciding that a big sturdy canoe would be better for our family trips. Our son has become kayaking mad and Keith has a sturdy kayak that he's been saying for months I would fit in... and I've been saying for months I don't think so πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ See where I'm going with this? Self doubt sucks! But yesterday, I shrugged off the voices and gave it a go in the garden. I fitted! 🀯 So I didn't want to waste any more time, I mean just think of those adventures I'd already missed out on! πŸ™„ I set the alarm for 5am and off we went to the local beach just in time for the best sunrise trip! πŸŒ… My eldest came out with me, giving me loads of advice like the mini expert he's becoming. I sat there chuckling to myself thinking I'm not a total newbie but loved the refresher course 🀩 We had a few giggles but didn't last long as we wanted a quick swim! And what a quick swim it was too! πŸ₯Ά A cracking morning and a much better start to the day than our usual routine πŸ’« Inspired by @outdoors_izzy I'm going to start tagging the gear I'm using. As someone of size who appreciates the right gear to be able to get outside and enjoy my adventures, I thought this might be a useful thing to start doing. "Nature is a tool to get children to experience no "Nature is a tool to get children to experience not just the wider world, but themselves" ~ Stephen Moss We always said before having kids that we'd carry on spending as much time as we could outdoors, in the mountains, on adventures. The hope being that if that's what they grew up knowing and experiencing, they wouldn't know any different and wanting to be outdoors would be natural for them. Our eldest is now 9yo, growing up way too fast, but he wrote a little story about the walk we did at the weekend and the wildlife we saw. It was really good! 9km in to our 12km walk and we're still smiling! L 9km in to our 12km walk and we're still smiling! Loving being back out! I hate posting pictures with me in them, but I'm getting too old to be bothered by it anymore and if we can't seize the day after the year we've just had, then something's a bit off! 🀣 So here I am, enjoying the great outdoors, working on getting stronger while listening to the non stop chatter from my 9yo about his favourite books/dragons/beetles/music and turtles! I love him and his brain!! πŸ₯° I just asked him what he sees when he looks at this picture and straight away he said "it's a picture of us having fun!" So let's get out of our own heads, go on more adventures with our kids as often as we can and get in those pictures!
